Jiho Park Confident Korea Can Win WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025

Taipei: Korea’s rising baseball star Jiho Park has emerged as one of the standout performers at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025, finishing the Opening Round with the tournament’s best batting average (.545) and the second-best on-base percentage (.667).

The 18-year-old left-handed outfielder, who played all six of Korea’s games in left field, credits his success to focus and discipline.
“I try to concentrate on every single moment,” Park said. “I focus on one pitch at a time and do my best to get the most out of it.”

Eyes on the KBO Draft

Currently a senior at Gunsan Sangil High School, Park is preparing for the KBO Draft, which takes place just two days after the World Cup concludes.
“My dream is to become a professional baseball player in Korea,” he shared. “If I don’t get drafted this year, I will go to college and try again in four years.”

Korea’s Road to the Final

Park emphasized that the Korean U-18 team is determined to prove itself on the world stage.
“Korea is here to win,” he said. “We showed we can beat Chinese Taipei, and now we’ll try to do the same against the USA. If we succeed, we’ll have another chance to face Japan in the final.”

Respect for Team USA

Acknowledging the strength of their next opponent, Park praised Team USA’s athleticism.
“They are tall, strong, and powerful hitters. Their pitchers have great command and always bring their best stuff. It will be a tough challenge.”

A Valuable Experience

For Park, the World Cup has been more than just competition—it’s a learning opportunity.
“This is my first international tournament. Meeting players from around the world, many of whom play at higher levels, has been inspiring. This experience will help me grow as a player and focus on what’s important to become better.”

With his strong performance and confident mindset, Jiho Park is not only leading Korea’s World Cup campaign but also positioning himself as one of the most exciting prospects ahead of the KBO Draft.
