Dubai International Airport Installs World’s Largest Hearing Loop Network
DUBAI – Dubai International Airport (DXB) has installed 520 hearing loops, marking the largest rollout of its kind globally. This initiative is designed to enhance accessibility for passengers with hearing impairments, including those using hearing aids or cochlear implants, as part of DXB’s vision to become the world’s most inclusive airport.
Key Details of the Hearing Loop System
The hearing loops are installed at high-traffic areas across all three terminals, including:
-
Check-in counters
-
Immigration desks
-
Boarding gates
-
Information points
Passengers can connect instantly by switching their hearing devices to telecoil (T) mode, eliminating the need for extra equipment or manual pairing.

The project was delivered in partnership with oneDXB community members, including Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Duty Free, and Dubai Taxi Company.
Airport staff have received specialized training to assist travellers with hearing difficulties, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
Accessibility at DXB
Globally, over 1.5 billion people live with some form of hearing loss, a number projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050, according to the World Health Organization. Recognizing this, Dubai Airports is prioritizing accessibility, combining infrastructure upgrades with staff readiness to support passengers.
Through initiatives like the hearing loops, DXB ensures travellers of determination receive practical, guest-focused support throughout their journey—from arrival at the kerbside to boarding the plane.
