Sale of Sleep Medicines Without Prescription Banned

DC Sialkot Bans Sale of Sleep Medicines Without Prescription

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sialkot, Saba Asghar Ali, has directed all pharmacies across the district to immediately stop selling sleep and insomnia-related medicines without a valid doctor’s prescription.

According to an official statement from the DC office, strict action will be taken against medical stores found violating the new order. The official highlighted that although such medicines are legally restricted to prescription-based sales, many outlets had been dispensing them without proper checks.

Under the latest directive, pharmacies will now only be allowed to provide sleep-related drugs if customers present a prescription issued by a registered medical practitioner. The DC emphasized that this measure aims to prevent misuse of medicines and safeguard public health.
