David Hussey Says Pakistani Players Will Lift Big Bash League to New Heights

  Oct 3, 2025

MELBOURNE: Former Australian cricketer David Hussey has praised the role of Pakistani players in the Big Bash League (BBL), saying their participation will take the competition to “an entirely new level.”

Speaking ahead of BBL 15, Hussey highlighted the impact of Pakistan’s T20 stars, noting their ability to attract fans, deliver match-winning performances, and raise the standard of cricket in Australia’s premier franchise league.

“Pakistan stars raise the bar”

“The standard of the Big Bash League will go to a new level because of Pakistan cricketers,” Hussey said, pointing to their growing influence in global leagues.

In recent years, Pakistani players like Fakhar Zaman, Asif Ali, and Haris Rauf have left their mark in the BBL with explosive batting and fiery pace. Their contributions have not only boosted the competition’s quality but also expanded its fanbase across South Asia.

Big names set for BBL debut

This season, fans are particularly excited as Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam are expected to make their BBL debuts. Cricket Australia has made strong efforts to ensure their participation despite ongoing PCB NOC restrictions.

High hopes for new season

Hussey’s endorsement reflects the respect Pakistani cricketers command within Australian cricketing circles. With BBL 15 fast approaching, all eyes will be on how many of Pakistan’s top stars make it to the league — and how much of an impact they can create.
