Dengue Cases Continue to Rise Across Punjab

 Oct 4, 2025

The number of dengue cases is steadily increasing across Punjab, with dozens of new infections reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the Punjab Health Department, 61 new dengue cases have been confirmed across the province in a single day. This brings the total number of reported cases to 1,618 so far this season.

In Lahore, 15 new patients tested positive for dengue, raising the city’s tally to 290. Rawalpindi remains one of the most affected districts, with 29 new cases, taking its total to 756.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection spread by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which are most active during daylight hours.

Common symptoms include:

  • High fever

  • Headache and body aches

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Skin rash

  • Mild bleeding such as from gums or nose

Health experts advise that anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention promptly. Early treatment helps prevent complications and supports faster recovery.

The monsoon season, from July to October, creates favorable conditions for mosquito breeding in stagnant water. This leads to a seasonal increase in dengue cases each year.

Authorities have urged residents to take preventive steps, such as:

  • Removing standing water from homes and surroundings

  • Using mosquito repellents and nets

  • Keeping doors and windows closed in the evening

Officials emphasize that community participation is essential to controlling dengue and protecting public health.
