PTA Warns of Fake Online Job Scams Targeting Pakistan’s Sensitive Data

By ProPK Staff | Published Oct 7, 2025

Islamabad — The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a nationwide awareness campaign to alert citizens about fraudulent online job offers and scams reportedly linked to foreign intelligence operations.

According to PTA sources, deceptive job schemes are being used to trick Pakistanis into sharing sensitive information about key national installations. Fake companies, often claiming to be based in India, are offering attractive salary packages to lure citizens into revealing confidential data.

The scams reportedly operate through professional networking platforms like LinkedIn and job portals such as “Job Gulf,” with perpetrators posing as legitimate recruiters. The primary objective is to gather details about critical institutions and locations that could be exploited against Pakistan.

Several fake websites have already been identified and blocked by the PTA. The awareness campaign focuses on educating the public about online fraud, phishing attempts, and deceptive job offers that threaten national security. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with suspicious online entities promising unrealistic employment.

PTA sources also revealed that intelligence operatives are using social media profiles to pose as company representatives, offering fake jobs while conducting surveys or research to collect images and locations of sensitive sites.

The PTA advised the public to report any suspicious online activity, stay alert to cyber threats, and exercise caution when responding to online job offers. Public awareness, the authority stressed, is the first line of defense against foreign cyber espionage.
