Here’s How Field Marshal Asim Munir Helped Convince Sri Lankan Team to Continue Pakistan Tour
 November 13, 2025

In a major development that brought relief to millions of cricket fans, Sri Lanka Cricket’s decision to continue their Pakistan tour came after the personal intervention of Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s top security official.

Speaking to the media, PCB Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that it was Field Marshal Asim Munir’s direct communication with Sri Lanka’s defence leadership that ultimately convinced the team to stay.

“Field Marshal Asim Munir personally reached out to Sri Lanka’s Defence Minister and Defence Secretary,” Naqvi said. “He assured them of foolproof security, top-level protocol, and complete state protection for their players. The Pakistan Army, Rangers, and police are all actively involved in ensuring safety.”

He further explained that the dialogue with the Sri Lankan team management was equally important. “The players had understandable concerns after recent events, but we addressed every one of them. Our goal was to make them feel completely safe and respected as state guests,” Naqvi added.

Naqvi also shared that the Sri Lankan President personally spoke with the players, urging them to continue the tour. “Their decision to stay and play was an act of courage and sportsmanship. We are deeply thankful to the Sri Lankan President, their government, the cricket board, and especially the players who showed such professionalism,” he said.

Expressing his gratitude, the PCB Chairman praised the Sri Lankan team’s bravery and commitment to the spirit of the game. “They had the final say, and their decision to go ahead with the series reflects their trust and friendship with Pakistan,” Naqvi stated.

With Sri Lanka fully committed to the ongoing series and enhanced security now in place, cricket fans across Pakistan can finally relax and enjoy the action on the field, confident that the spirit of the game has triumphed through leadership, trust, and cooperation.
