Islamabad Traffic Diversion Plan Announced Ahead of International Talks 2026

The Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic management and diversion plan ahead of the upcoming Islamabad Talks 2026, which will involve international delegations.
Heavy Traffic Restrictions
Authorities have announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Islamabad on April 11 and 12 due to security arrangements and expected high-level diplomatic activity in the capital.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
Commuters traveling through and within Islamabad have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion:
- Travelers from Peshawar to Rawalpindi are advised to use the Taxila Motorway route
- Lahore to Peshawar traffic may use Rawat, Chak Beli, and Chakri routes
- Residents of G-5, F-6, and F-7 sectors should use Margalla Road
- Residents of G-6 and G-7 are advised to use Ninth Avenue
- Traffic from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will be diverted to Ninth Avenue
Additional Diversions
- Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi commuters may use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road
- Rawalpindi to Islamabad traffic is advised to use Ninth Avenue via Saddar
- Vehicles from Colonel Sher Khan Road should divert via Stadium Road and Ninth Avenue
For intercity travel, authorities recommend using Taxila and Fateh Jang Motorways for smoother traffic flow.
Traffic Management Purpose
Officials stated that these measures have been implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow, public convenience, and enhanced security arrangements during the international event.
