Punjab to Launch Electric Bus Service in Another District After Eid
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has said that the provincial government is continuing efforts to modernize public transport by introducing safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly travel options across the province.
During a visit to Attock, the minister reviewed preparations at the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand, and appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Attock.
Speaking to the media, he said that arrangements for launching the Green Electric Bus Service in Attock are in the final stages under the direction of the Chief Minister Punjab.
He added that the electric bus service is expected to begin operations within a few days after Eid ul Azha.
According to the minister, the new buses will offer modern facilities including mobile charging ports, a cashless payment system, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and a dedicated space for women passengers.
He also said the fare has been set at Rs. 20 to ensure affordable travel for the public.
Officials stated that the electric buses will help reduce air pollution and noise levels while improving overall urban transport services in the district.
The minister further reiterated that strict action will be taken against overcharging, overloading, and violations of transport regulations during the Eid period.
