IESCO Staff Protest Against Privatization at Islamabad Headquarters

Field staff of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) staged a protest outside the company’s headquarters in the G-7 sector of Islamabad on Tuesday, opposing the proposed privatization of the organization.

According to reports, protesting employees suspended field duties and temporarily halted responses to public complaints as part of their demonstration. The workers stated that the boycott would continue until their concerns regarding privatization were addressed by the authorities.

The protest was held outside the IESCO headquarters, where employees raised slogans and urged the government to reconsider its privatization plans. They expressed concerns that the move could affect job security and working conditions.

Due to the suspension of field operations, there are concerns about possible delays in addressing consumer complaints and maintenance-related services in Islamabad and surrounding areas.

Authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the protest or the demands raised by the employees.

The situation remains under observation as discussions on power sector reforms continue at the policy level.
