6 children killed in roof collapse in KP’s Shangla

Six children were killed and another was injured after the roof of a mud house collapsed in Shangla district’s Alpuri tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rescue officials said.

According to Rescue 1122, seven children were trapped under the debris when the roof of the house caved in early in the morning in the Rahimabad Bassi area.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after receiving the emergency call and recovered the bodies within an hour.

Officials said all the children were asleep at the time of the incident. Six of them died on the spot, while one injured child was shifted for medical treatment.

Local authorities confirmed that the victims belonged to the same family. The injured child remains in critical condition.

Such incidents are not uncommon in parts of the region where older or weakly constructed houses are vulnerable to collapse, especially during adverse weather conditions.
