ECC Approves Multiple Funding Allocations Including Defence and Development Projects

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved several financial allocations across defence, infrastructure, energy, and public sector development sectors during a meeting held in Islamabad.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division.

Defence and Strategic Projects

Among the key approvals, the ECC allocated Rs. 10.15 billion for the Pakistan Navy’s Hangor Project under a long-term defence modernization and capability enhancement plan.

The committee also approved additional funding measures aimed at supporting ongoing defence and security-related initiatives.

Development and Infrastructure Funding

The ECC approved Rs. 7 billion under the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme (SAP) to support development projects and manage rising project costs.

Significant allocations were also approved for infrastructure development in major cities, including funding for urban development initiatives in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Additional financial support was approved for institutions such as the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL), Pakistan Mint, and various regional development programs.

Interior, Security, and Public Services

The committee approved multiple allocations for the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control to support security-related expenditures, including funding for ongoing projects and compensation-related requirements.

Funding was also approved for the expansion of the Islamabad Safe City project, Pakistan Coast Guards, and other security agencies to strengthen operational capacity.

Energy, Media, and Public Sector Support

The ECC also approved financial assistance for energy sector entities, including Pakistan State Oil (PSO), along with measures related to refinery policy adjustments and operational continuity support for energy infrastructure companies.

Allocations were also approved for Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) to meet salary obligations and for other administrative requirements across federal institutions.

Additional Approvals

Other approvals included funding for telecom infrastructure expansion in remote areas, parliamentary administrative expenses, and upgrades to public facilities in Islamabad.

The committee also reviewed and approved various budgetary and financial frameworks aimed at improving efficiency in federal institutions.

Conclusion

Officials stated that the approved measures are part of ongoing efforts to support development projects, strengthen institutional capacity, and ensure financial stability across key sectors of the government.
