Maja Chwalinska to Face Mirra Andreeva in French Open Final
Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska will meet Russia’s Mirra Andreeva in the women’s singles final at the French Open in Paris on Saturday.
No matter the outcome, the final is set to create history at Roland Garros.
Chwalinska, ranked 114th in the world, is aiming to become the first-ever qualifier to win the French Open women’s singles title.
Her opponent, 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva, currently ranked eighth, is looking to become one of the youngest champions in recent history. If she wins, she would be the youngest French Open women’s champion since Monica Seles, who won the title in 1992 at the age of 18.
The final will take place on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with the match scheduled to start at 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT; 9 a.m. ET).
