Knicks Stage Historic Comeback to Defeat Spurs, Move One Win Away from NBA Title

The New York Knicks produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in NBA Finals history on Wednesday night, rallying from a 29-point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 and take a commanding 3-1 lead in the championship series.

The dramatic victory was sealed with just 1.2 seconds remaining when OG Anunoby tipped in a missed shot, completing a stunning turnaround that has put New York within one win of its first NBA championship in more than five decades.

The Knicks faced a huge challenge after trailing by 27 points at halftime and falling behind by as many as 29 points in the third quarter. However, they gradually chipped away at the deficit with an inspired second-half performance.

Jalen Brunson led the comeback effort with 36 points, while Anunoby contributed 33 points, including the game-winning basket that sent the home crowd into celebration.

The victory marked the largest comeback ever recorded in an NBA Finals game since detailed play-by-play records began. It also ranks among the biggest postseason comebacks in league history.

New York now holds a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series and will have three opportunities to secure the NBA championship. Game 5 is scheduled to take place in San Antonio on Saturday.

The Knicks, who last won an NBA title in 1973, are now on the verge of ending one of the longest championship droughts among major North American sports franchises.

For the Spurs, the defeat was particularly painful after controlling much of the contest and building what appeared to be a comfortable lead before New York’s remarkable fightback changed the course of the game.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Knicks are now one step away from completing a historic journey back to the top of the NBA.
