Government Reduces Petrol Price by Rs. 4 and Diesel by Rs. 2 per Litre

The government has announced a reduction in fuel prices, lowering petrol by Rs. 4 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs. 2 per litre with immediate effect.

According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new prices will take effect from June 13.

Following the latest adjustment, the price of petrol has been set at Rs. 373.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel now stands at Rs. 378.78 per litre.

Fifth Consecutive Weekly Reduction

This marks the fifth consecutive weekly decrease in petrol prices. Over the past five weeks, the cumulative reduction in petrol prices has reached Rs. 41 per litre.

In the previous weekly review, petrol prices were reduced by Rs. 4 per litre, while diesel prices remained unchanged at that time.

Tax and Pricing Structure

A significant portion of fuel prices consists of taxes and levies. According to available details, high-speed diesel includes charges such as customs duty, petroleum levy, climate support levy, and freight adjustment margins.

Similarly, petrol prices also include multiple government taxes and levies that contribute to the final retail price.

Usage of Petroleum Products

Petrol is primarily used in private vehicles, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small transport, and has a direct impact on household transportation expenses.

High-speed diesel is widely used in heavy transport vehicles, agriculture machinery, and electricity generators, making it important for logistics and supply chains.

Regular Price Reviews

Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed on a regular basis, typically every two weeks or as determined by the government, based on international market trends and other economic factors.
