Meta Services Face Temporary Access Issues for Users Worldwide
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads, experienced temporary access issues affecting users in several regions on Friday.
The company acknowledged the problem through a statement posted by spokesperson Andy Stone on X, saying:
“We are aware that people are currently having trouble accessing our services. We are working to resolve the issue.”
According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, more than 62,000 reports were recorded for Facebook and over 8,000 reports for Instagram at one point during the disruption. These figures are based on user-submitted reports and may not reflect the exact number of affected users.
Meta has not yet shared the exact cause of the disruption. The company operates platforms used by billions of people worldwide, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.
This is not the first time Meta services have experienced interruptions. In recent years, users in different countries have reported temporary outages or slow performance during technical issues or maintenance activities.
Earlier incidents include a global outage in March 2024 that temporarily affected access to multiple Meta platforms, and another case where users in some regions reported slower performance during network maintenance activities.
Meta has not issued further details regarding Friday’s disruption at the time of reporting.
