Saibari Scores Early as Morocco Defeat Scotland 1-0 in World Cup Clash

Morocco secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Scotland in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C match, thanks to a rapid early goal from Ismael Saibari at Gillette Stadium near Boston.

Saibari struck after just 71 seconds, scoring the fastest goal of the tournament so far. The midfielder, who also scored in Morocco’s opening draw against Brazil, finished clinically to give his side an early advantage.

Despite Scotland’s efforts to respond, Morocco controlled large parts of the match and created the better chances throughout. Saibari came close again in the second half when his shot was deflected onto the crossbar, while Morocco continued to test the Scottish defense.

Scotland struggled to create clear scoring opportunities, with their best chances limited and unable to trouble Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou for much of the match. Their attacking play lacked sharpness in key moments.

Morocco, ranked among the top teams in the tournament, showed strong organization and composure as they managed the game effectively after taking the early lead.

The win puts Morocco on four points from two matches, putting them in a strong position to advance to the knockout stage. Scotland will need a better result in their remaining group games to keep their qualification hopes alive.
