North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Reaffirms Nuclear Position Amid Global Tensions

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said that exercising the country’s status as a nuclear state is necessary to respond to what he described as an increasingly unstable global security environment, according to state media KCNA.

During a ruling Workers’ Party Central Committee meeting held over several days, Kim said international tensions were being driven by “unpredictable” global events and accused major powers of worsening conflicts around the world.

He also criticized joint military cooperation between the United States and South Korea, saying it increases security risks on the Korean Peninsula. Kim claimed that such activities are intended to target North Korea.

According to KCNA, Kim stated that strengthening nuclear forces is the “most appropriate” response to current global conditions. However, no specific details were provided regarding any changes to North Korea’s nuclear program.

The North Korean leader also called for the continued development of conventional military capabilities, including modern defense systems and naval assets.

Analysts say the remarks reflect Pyongyang’s continued rejection of denuclearization efforts and its position that it should be treated as a nuclear-armed state in any future negotiations.
