Report; Imran Sohail
England and Ghana played out a 0-0 draw in their FIFA World Cup Group L match on Tuesday, with both teams earning a valuable point in their pursuit of a place in the knockout stage.
Despite controlling possession for much of the match, England were unable to find a breakthrough against a disciplined Ghana side at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Ghana focused on defensive organization throughout the contest and successfully limited England’s attacking opportunities. Head coach Carlos Queiroz praised his team’s performance, highlighting their commitment to executing the game plan.
England created several chances, particularly in the closing stages, but could not convert them into goals. The European side finished with a significant advantage in shots and possession but were repeatedly denied by Ghana’s defensive resilience.
Midfielder Jude Bellingham acknowledged the challenge posed by Ghana, noting that England found it difficult to break down their well-structured defense.
Both teams entered the match after winning their opening group fixtures. Ghana secured a 1-0 victory over Panama, while England defeated Croatia 4-2 in an entertaining contest.
The result leaves Group L finely balanced heading into the final round of matches. England and Ghana remain well-positioned in the standings, but qualification for the Round of 32 has yet to be secured.
With one group game remaining, both nations will look to build on their positive starts and confirm their places in the next stage of the tournament.
