Authorities Seal Unlicensed Veterinary Drug Manufacturing Unit in Islamabad

Authorities have sealed an unlicensed veterinary medicine manufacturing facility in Islamabad during a joint enforcement operation conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

According to officials, the operation took place in Ghauri Town, where the facility was allegedly producing veterinary medicines without the required registration and manufacturing licence.

Medicines and Equipment Seized

During the operation, officials recovered a quantity of veterinary medicines along with packaging materials, product labels, stock records, and manufacturing equipment.

The seized machinery reportedly included weighing scales, pouch-sealing machines, and heat guns.

DRAP officials took custody of the recovered items under the relevant provisions of the Drugs Act, 1976, while samples of the products were sent to a laboratory for testing.

Investigation Underway

Authorities said one suspect was taken into custody during the operation.

Officials added that the owner of the facility has been named in the investigation and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual.

DRAP Highlights Regulatory Requirements

Under the Drugs Act, 1976, manufacturers of pharmaceutical and veterinary medicines are required to obtain a valid manufacturing licence from DRAP and register their products before they can be marketed.

Officials said regulatory compliance helps maintain quality standards and supports the safety of veterinary medicines available in the market.

The FIA and DRAP stated that enforcement actions against illegal manufacturing facilities will continue as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance and protect public and animal health.
