Punjab Launches ‘Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat’ Loan Scheme: Eligibility, Loan Amount and Application Process

Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced the “Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat” loan scheme to help eligible homeowners improve the safety of their houses and expand living space through interest-free loans.

The initiative, launched under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to support families in repairing unsafe roofs and making homes more secure.

Interest-Free Loan Amount

Under the scheme, eligible applicants can apply for:

  • Up to Rs. 500,000 to repair, strengthen, or secure an existing roof.
  • Up to Rs. 1 million to construct an additional room or build a second floor.

The loans will be provided without interest to eligible beneficiaries.

Easy Monthly Installments

To make repayments more affordable, the government has reduced the monthly installment amount.

Depending on the approved loan, applicants will pay monthly installments ranging from approximately Rs. 4,700 to Rs. 9,300.

How to Apply

Eligible residents can submit their applications through any of the following methods:

  • Apply online through the official Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat portal.
  • Visit the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in your district.
  • Apply through your local Assistant Commissioner (AC) office.
  • Submit an application through the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).

Government Housing Support

According to the Punjab government, the province has already distributed more than 173,000 interest-free housing loans under its housing initiatives, with total financing exceeding Rs. 224.4 billion.

Officials say the new Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat scheme is intended to improve housing safety while making home improvement projects more accessible for eligible families across Punjab.
