14 Cities Submit Bids to Host ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 Matches

A total of 14 cities across Australia and New Zealand have submitted bids to host matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, with tournament organizers expected to select between eight and 10 host cities.

Australia and New Zealand are set to jointly host the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from mid-October to mid-November 2028.

Organizers invited expressions of interest from cities and cricket venues in both countries, receiving proposals from 14 locations. After the evaluation process, only eight to 10 cities are expected to be chosen, meaning several applicants may not be included in the final hosting list.

The submitted bids will be reviewed against the International Cricket Council (ICC) venue requirements. An independent evaluation committee will assist organizers in assessing each proposal before the final decision is made.

According to reports, the official list of host cities is expected to be announced by the end of 2026, with the selection process likely to conclude later this year.

Tournament planners are aiming to strike a balance between representation across both host nations and efficient event management. A more focused selection of venues is expected to simplify logistics, scheduling, and travel for teams, match officials, and spectators.

Reports also suggest that the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is a strong contender to host the tournament final due to its large capacity and experience in staging major international cricket events. However, the ICC has not officially confirmed the venue for the championship match.
