General Aamer Raza Meets Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir at GHQ

Newly appointed Commander of the National Strategic Command (CNSC), General Syed Aamer Raza, met Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The meeting took place following General Aamer Raza’s recent appointment as Commander of the National Strategic Command.

Congratulations on New Appointment

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated General Aamer Raza on assuming his new responsibilities and extended his best wishes for the role.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Raza was presented with a guard of honour.

He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-i-Shuhada and offered prayers in tribute to the country’s martyrs.

Appointment as CNSC

Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the promotion of General Aamer Raza to the rank of a four-star general and his appointment as Commander of the National Strategic Command.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier congratulated General Raza and wished him success in carrying out his new responsibilities.

About the National Strategic Command

The position of Commander of the National Strategic Command (CNSC) was established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which introduced changes to Pakistan’s military command structure.

Under the revised framework, the CNSC is responsible for duties that were previously assigned to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), a position that was abolished following the constitutional changes.

The amendment also provides that the appointment, reappointment, or extension of the CNSC is made on the recommendation of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).

General Aamer Raza’s Service

General Aamer Raza has received several military honors during his career, including the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and the Sitara-i-Basalat.

Field Marshal Asim Munir became Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces after the 27th Constitutional Amendment introduced the position as part of a unified command structure for the country’s armed forces.
