Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff Set Up All-American Cincinnati Open Final

Jessica Pegula has reached the Cincinnati Open women’s final, where she will face fellow American Coco Gauff in an all-American championship match.
Pegula defeated defending champion Iga Swiatek in a closely contested semifinal, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 after two hours and 47 minutes.
Pegula Overcomes Swiatek in Three Sets
The match was interrupted briefly by rain early in the opening set, but Pegula returned strongly and took control.
Swiatek fought back during the second set and managed to level the match. Pegula, however, stayed composed in the deciding set.
After falling 3-1 behind, the American recovered to make it 4-4 before securing the decisive break in the following game. She then served out the match to book her place in another WTA 1000 final.
“It was a really tough match,” Pegula said after the victory, praising Swiatek’s strong form and describing her run to another major final as a positive achievement.
Coco Gauff Reaches Final
Pegula’s opponent will be Coco Gauff, who defeated Czech player Sara Bejlek 6-4, 6-1 in the other semifinal.
Gauff made a strong start and built a 4-1 advantage in the opening set. Bejlek fought back to level at 4-4, but Gauff responded by breaking serve again before taking the set.
The American then dominated the second set, breaking twice and taking advantage of her opponent’s errors to complete the victory in 76 minutes.
The result sets up an exciting all-American final between two of the leading players in women’s tennis.
Arthur Fils Reaches Men’s Final
In the men’s draw, French player Arthur Fils defeated seventh seed Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 6-4 in 67 minutes.
Fils recovered quickly after Cobolli took an early lead in the opening set. The Frenchman then broke serve and controlled the match with powerful forehands.
He finished the contest with 22 winners and six aces, extending his winning streak to five matches.
Fils, who won the Barcelona Open earlier this year, will now face American Frances Tiafoe in the final.
Tiafoe Defeats Nakashima
Frances Tiafoe secured his place in the men’s final by beating fellow American Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-3.
The opening set featured several breaks of serve before Tiafoe moved ahead 6-5 and closed out the set.
He continued to apply pressure in the second set, earning a break for a 3-2 lead before serving out the match without dropping a point in the final game.
The Cincinnati Open finals will now feature an all-American women’s showdown between Pegula and Gauff, while Tiafoe and Fils will compete for the men’s title.
