Rain Forecast Raises Flood Risk in Northeastern Balochistan

QUETTA: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Quetta has issued a weather advisory forecasting heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours in parts of northeastern Balochistan.

According to the advisory, the expected rainfall could increase the risk of flash flooding in streams, nullahs and hill torrents in several districts.

Several Districts May Receive Rain

The areas likely to experience the wet weather include Ziarat, Sherani, Zhob, Harnai, Musakhail, Barkhan, Loralai, Duki, Killa Saifullah, Kohlu and Dera Bugti.

The weather system may also bring strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning. Authorities have advised caution as strong weather conditions could affect weak structures and outdoor installations, including solar panels, billboards and electricity poles.

Hot Weather to Continue in Other Areas

Despite the expected rainfall in northern and northeastern areas, much of Balochistan is likely to remain hot to very hot.

Temperatures could reach around 45°C in Nokkundi and Dalbandin, while very warm conditions are also expected in Washuk, Kharan, Noshki, Panjgur, Kech, Awaran, parts of Khuzdar, Sibi and Dera Bugti, as well as the Naseerabad division.

The lowest temperature recorded in the province was 31°C in Ormara.

Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in More Areas

The forecast suggests partly cloudy conditions with rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of Zhob, Sherani, Musakhail, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Ziarat, Kohlu and Khuzdar.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue over the next two to three days. Rain and thunderstorms may also affect areas around Surab, Mastung, Harnai, Duki, Loralai and the outskirts of Quetta.

Residents in areas vulnerable to flash flooding are advised to remain alert and follow weather updates and instructions issued by local authorities.
