Sindh to Expand Pink Electric Scooter Scheme to Mirpurkhas
The Sindh government is preparing to expand its women’s mobility initiative to Mirpurkhas, where Pink Electric Scooters are expected to be distributed in the next phase of the program.
Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that more than 50,000 women have applied for the Pink Electric Scooter and training program so far.
According to the minister, the high number of applications reflects growing interest among women in affordable and convenient transportation options.
More Than 2,000 Women Receive Training
The Sindh government has already provided driving and safety-related training to more than 2,000 women under the initiative.
Training activities are currently being conducted in several districts, including:
- Karachi
- Hyderabad
- Sukkur
- Mirpurkhas
- Shaheed Benazirabad
The training is intended to help participants learn safe scooter riding and improve their confidence on the road.
Over 810 Scooters Distributed So Far
The government allocated 925 scooters in the first phase and 476 scooters in the second phase of the program.
So far, more than 810 Pink Electric Scooters have been distributed free of cost to eligible women. The distribution includes:
- 410 scooters in Karachi
- 200 scooters in Sukkur
- 200 scooters in Hyderabad
The government says the initiative is designed to improve women’s mobility and provide them with greater access to education, employment and other economic and social opportunities.
Mirpurkhas Included in the Next Phase
Mirpurkhas is now set to become part of the next phase of the Pink Electric Scooter initiative. The provincial government also plans to extend the program to additional areas across Sindh.
The scheme is intended to provide women with more convenient and independent transportation while encouraging safe driving practices through dedicated training.
Further details about the number of scooters for Mirpurkhas, eligibility requirements and the next application process are expected to be announced by the Sindh government.
