Scottie Scheffler Wins Second FedEx Cup, Surpasses Tiger Woods in PGA Tour Earnings

Scottie Scheffler capped another outstanding season by winning the Tour Championship and securing his second FedEx Cup title, while also moving ahead of Tiger Woods in PGA Tour career earnings.
Scottie Scheffler added another major achievement to his remarkable PGA Tour career on Sunday, winning the Tour Championship at East Lake and claiming his second FedEx Cup title.
The victory was the latest milestone in a five-year stretch during which Scheffler has collected 22 PGA Tour wins. His latest success also saw him move past golf legend Tiger Woods for the highest career earnings in PGA Tour history.
Scheffler Produces Strong Finish in Atlanta
Scheffler entered the final stretch of the Tour Championship needing to overcome a three-shot deficit. He responded with a strong closing performance, shooting a 4-under 66 to finish three shots ahead of the field.
None of the other players among the top six on the leaderboard managed to break par in the final round.
Scheffler’s comeback began early in the round. On the second hole, he hit a 5-iron on the 211-yard par-3 and left his approach just inches from the hole.
He then added another birdie on the fourth hole after putting from around 25 feet, helping him draw level with Viktor Hovland.
Scheffler eventually moved into the outright lead on the 13th hole and maintained control through the closing holes to secure a three-shot victory.
The triumph also marked the first time Scheffler recorded the lowest 72-hole score of the Tour Championship.
Second FedEx Cup Title
The Tour Championship victory gave Scheffler his second FedEx Cup championship, adding to the title he previously won in 2022.
His consistent performances throughout the season had already established him as one of the leading players on the PGA Tour. Winning the season-ending championship provided a fitting conclusion to another highly successful campaign.
After the final round, Scheffler celebrated in a relaxed fashion, enjoying a beer with his family and manager as the PGA Tour season officially came to an end.
“I don’t really drink often,” Scheffler said, describing the drink as a well-earned celebration after completing the season.
New Career Earnings Milestone
Scheffler’s latest victory also carried historical significance beyond the tournament itself.
With the additional prize money, he moved ahead of Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour’s career earnings list. Woods remains one of the most influential figures in golf history, making Scheffler’s achievement another notable milestone in his rapidly developing career.
At just 30 years old, Scheffler has already established an impressive record of tournament victories and major achievements.
