Punjab Orders Strict Verification of Commercial Drivers’ Licenses

Punjab Traffic Police has directed officials to step up the verification of driving licenses held by commercial vehicle drivers across the province as part of efforts to improve road safety.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir instructed traffic officials to ensure that commercial vehicles are not operated by drivers who do not hold valid licenses.

The directive applies to drivers of both passenger and goods-carrying commercial vehicles. Officials have been asked to take action against violations and prevent unlicensed drivers from operating on roads across Punjab.

Thousands Receive Commercial Driving License Facilities

According to the DIG Traffic, more than 60,000 citizens were provided facilities related to commercial driving licenses across Punjab during the current month.

The traffic police spokesperson said that more than 3,400 regular commercial driving licenses were also issued during the same period.

The DIG said enforcement against drivers operating commercial vehicles without valid licenses would continue. He emphasized that proper licensing is an important part of ensuring road safety for drivers, passengers, and other road users.

Traffic Officers Directed to Ensure Compliance

City Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) have been instructed to carry out mandatory license checks in their respective areas.

Traffic officials have also been directed to maintain effective enforcement on provincial roads and highways and ensure that commercial vehicles are operated only by properly licensed drivers.

The latest directive is part of ongoing efforts by Punjab authorities to strengthen traffic regulations and improve compliance with licensing requirements across the province.
