Bangladesh U-20 Hockey Team Loses Junior World Cup Qualification Chance

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup have come to an end after the U-20 national team suffered a heavy defeat against Japan in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament in Moqi, China.

Japan secured a 6-2 victory over Bangladesh in the sixth-place playoff on Friday, September 11, ending Bangladesh’s chances of qualifying for the next edition of the Junior Hockey World Cup.

Japan Dominates Sixth-Place Playoff

Japan produced a strong attacking performance and scored six goals during the match to secure a convincing victory.

Bangladesh managed to find the net twice, with Mehedi and Munna scoring one goal each for the team.

Despite their efforts, Bangladesh could not match Japan’s attacking pressure and ultimately finished on the losing side.

World Cup Qualification Hopes End

The defeat proved decisive for Bangladesh’s campaign, as the team’s position in the tournament means they can no longer secure qualification for the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup.

The result will be a major disappointment for the young Bangladesh side, which had entered the continental competition hoping to secure a place on the global stage.

Final Match Still to Come

Bangladesh will have one more match remaining in the tournament.

The team is scheduled to compete in the seventh- and eighth-place playoff on Saturday, where they will look to finish their Junior Asia Cup campaign with a victory.

The final match will give Bangladesh an opportunity to end the tournament on a positive note despite missing out on World Cup qualification.
