Karachi May Receive Rain From Monday as Monsoon System Develops
Karachi could experience a spell of rain from Monday as a developing monsoon weather system is expected to bring thunderstorms and rainfall to several parts of Sindh.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain in various districts of the province over the coming days.
Rain Expected in Several Sindh Districts
According to the weather advisory, a monsoon low is currently located over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas along the Odisha coast. The system is expected to move westward and influence weather conditions in Sindh.
Under the system’s influence, dust storms, thunderstorms and rain are expected in several districts from Sunday through Wednesday, September 16.
The areas likely to receive rainfall include:
- Tharparkar
- Umerkot
- Mirpurkhas
- Badin
- Thatta
- Sujawal
- Tando Muhammad Khan
Some areas could receive moderate to isolated heavy rainfall during the period.
Karachi Rain Forecast
For Karachi, the weather department has predicted thunderstorms and light rain from Monday, September 14, to Wednesday, September 16.
The rainfall may occur intermittently, with breaks between showers.
Other districts, including Hyderabad, Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro, may also receive light to moderate rain during the same period.
Hot and Humid Weather to Continue
Despite the possibility of rain, Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid over the next two days.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 34°C and 37°C.
Morning humidity levels could reach 70% to 80%, while evening humidity is expected to remain between 55% and 65%.
Residents may therefore continue to experience uncomfortable weather conditions before the expected rain spell arrives.
The PMD has advised residents to remain updated about further weather forecasts as the monsoon system develops and moves toward Sindh.
