Pentagon Releases New UFO Files Detailing Secret Military Research Programme
The US Pentagon has released another collection of documents related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs, providing additional information about past military research programmes, unexplained aerial encounters and reported injuries.
According to CBS News, the latest disclosure is the sixth batch of UAP-related records released by the US Department of Defense.
New Release Contains 71 Documents
The latest collection includes 71 files covering the period from 1952 to 2025.
Of these, 67 records were supplied by the US Department of Defense, while four came from local law enforcement agencies in Colorado.
The release consists of:
- 55 PDF documents
- 15 videos
- 1 audio recording
Most of the material contains some level of redaction.
Details of Secret Aerospace Research Programme
Among the most notable records are documents related to the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Programme (AAWSAP).
The programme was established by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in 2008 to investigate potential aerospace threats and emerging technologies that could have major implications through 2050.
AAWSAP ended in 2012 and examined technologies that could potentially move well beyond existing technological capabilities.
The newly released material also contains 37 Defence Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRDs).
These reports examined theoretical subjects such as wormholes, warp drives, antigravity, negative-mass propulsion and invisibility cloaking.
The Pentagon has clarified that the DIRDs were intended as reference and synthesis documents rather than original scientific research. The department also said their inclusion should not be interpreted as confirmation that the concepts discussed are scientifically valid.
Reports Examine Alleged Injuries
One of the documents is a 38-page study from 2010 examining reports of injuries that were allegedly connected to anomalous aerospace encounters.
The study reviewed an incident involving three antenna engineers who reportedly experienced unexplained events followed by several physical symptoms.
Reported symptoms included skin redness, exposure to heat and hair loss.
The document stated that, in one case, the individuals displayed signs described as radiation illness and later developed signs of malignant transformations over several years.
The newly released records do not establish that the reported health problems were caused by UFOs or other unexplained aerospace phenomena.
Military Footage Shows Unidentified Objects
The Pentagon’s release also contains military-camera footage showing objects that investigators could not immediately identify.
One incident recorded in the Middle East in 2022 reportedly involved a UAP travelling at between 80 and 180 miles per hour.
Another video showed six small spherical objects that appeared agile and repeatedly changed direction.
The material provides additional records for researchers studying unexplained aerial observations, although the release does not establish that the objects were extraterrestrial or represented unknown technology.
Historical UFO Investigations Included
The files also contain historical material dating back several decades.
One recording from 1952 features Air Force officer Edward Ruppelt discussing investigations into UFO reports.
Ruppelt said that around 20% of approximately 800 reports being examined at the time remained unresolved.
The historical documents provide a look at how US authorities investigated unexplained aerial sightings during the early years of official UFO research.
Pentagon Opens Route for UAP Disclosures
The Pentagon has also introduced a legal waiver allowing current and former government employees who are bound by nondisclosure agreements to provide UAP-related information to the government.
The measure is intended to allow relevant personnel to share information with authorities without violating applicable confidentiality obligations.
The latest release adds to decades of government records concerning unexplained aerial phenomena, while also highlighting the distinction between investigating unusual observations and confirming claims about their origin.
