Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Resolve to Counter Terrorism During Peshawar Visit
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to countering terrorism and supporting peace and stability across Pakistan.
He made the remarks during a visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar, where he reviewed the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ongoing counterterrorism activities, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Munir Receives Briefing on KP Security
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, counterterrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of formations deployed in the province.
The military’s media wing said Munir appreciated the morale, readiness and professionalism of officers and troops.
He also directed the formations to remain vigilant and maintain high standards of operational preparedness.
Tribute to Fallen Security Personnel
Field Marshal Munir visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada at Corps Headquarters Peshawar, where he laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha for personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to ISPR, he paid tribute to those who died while defending the country and during counterterrorism operations.
He also said the sacrifices of the fallen personnel would continue to be remembered.
Visit Comes Amid Security Concerns
The Peshawar Corps visit comes amid heightened security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following recent attacks and clashes involving security forces and militants.
The province has witnessed a number of security incidents in recent days, prompting continued counterterrorism operations and increased attention to border security.
Pakistan has also carried out operations targeting militant positions near the Afghan border, according to official statements.
Armed Forces Pledge Continued Vigilance
During the briefing, Field Marshal Munir emphasised the need for continued vigilance and operational preparedness.
He said the armed forces, with public support, remained committed to countering terrorism and working towards lasting peace and stability across the country, according to ISPR.
The Field Marshal was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps upon his arrival at Corps Headquarters.
