Usman Khan Finishes Asian Games Eventing Competition

NAGOYA: Pakistan equestrian Usman Khan completed his Asian Games campaign on Wednesday, finishing 16th among 32 riders in the individual eventing cross-country competition.
The France-based rider recorded 55.90 penalty points in the cross-country phase. Six riders were eliminated, while two others withdrew from the competition.
Usman and his horse Mirage had initially finished 19th in dressage before dropping to 20th following two knocked rails in the showjumping phase. They produced a stronger performance in the cross-country round, completing the course without a fault despite challenging weather conditions caused by the typhoon.
Eventing Pakistan said the result provides useful progress for the country’s eventing programme as it continues preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Usman said he and Mirage had given their best while representing Pakistan.
“Mirage and I gave our best for Pakistan. Alhamdulillah, and InshaAllah, competing at the championship level will become the new normal for Pakistan,” he said.
China’s Tian Hua won the individual gold medal with 26.90 penalty points. Thailand’s Woraphat Sittiju secured silver with 30.10 points, while Japan’s Yoshiaki Oiwa took bronze with 31.70.
Thailand won the team eventing gold, with Japan taking silver and South Korea securing bronze.
In the earlier stages of the competition, Usman finished 19th out of 31 riders in dressage with 36.70 penalty points. He then placed 20th out of 32 riders in showjumping with 44.70 points.
