Atta Tarar Criticises PTI During Peshawar Visit
PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying he believes the party could eventually lose its political influence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Tarar made the remarks while addressing the inauguration of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader’s office in Peshawar on Wednesday. Former Punjab governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, PML-N leader Ikhtiar Wali Khan and other party figures were also present at the event.
During his speech, the federal minister recalled previous political developments and said political circumstances could change over time. He also criticised PTI leaders over their political activities and public appearances.
Tarar described PTI’s approach in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as focused heavily on social media. Referring to a recent political video, he said such activities should not be considered a substitute for practical political work and public service.
The minister also questioned the performance of PTI-led provincial governments, arguing that the party had not delivered major development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during its years in power.
Tarar highlighted infrastructure and public-sector projects that he attributed to the PML-N and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He also said the federal government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was working on education and healthcare initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The minister further said new Daanish schools were being established in the province and claimed that steps were also being taken to improve healthcare facilities.
Tarar’s comments come amid heightened political activity involving PTI and other political groups in the country. PTI leaders have continued to criticise the federal government over political and administrative issues, while government representatives have defended their policies and questioned the performance of the PTI-led administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
