Islamabad to Receive 21 New Rescue and Firefighting Vehicles
Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the city’s fire brigade are set to receive 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles after a gap of 17 years.
The vehicles have arrived at Karachi Port from China and are expected to be transported to Islamabad within the next five days.
Mohsin Naqvi Inspects New Fleet
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi Port and inspected the newly arrived vehicles.
Naqvi welcomed the addition of the vehicles and said the new fleet would significantly expand Islamabad’s emergency response capacity. He also thanked the Chinese government for completing the delivery ahead of schedule.
The latest addition represents the first major expansion of Islamabad Rescue’s vehicle fleet since 2009.
Modern Equipment for Emergency Operations
Officials briefed the interior minister that the new vehicles can support rescue and firefighting operations at heights of up to 256 feet.
The fleet includes:
- 4 fire aerial trucks
- 6 fire towers
- 5 fire tanks
- Modern rescue and firefighting equipment
According to the interior minister, the vehicles will remain available round the clock at six rescue stations across Islamabad.
Officials Attend Inspection
Senior customs officials, CDA Chairman, Islamabad Chief Commissioner, a CDA director and representatives of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) were also present during the inspection.
The new vehicles are expected to strengthen Islamabad’s emergency services and improve the city’s capacity to respond to fires, high-rise emergencies and other rescue situations.
