Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Congratulates Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus on New Leadership Role in Bangladesh

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist, on his recent appointment as the interim leader of Bangladesh. In a tweet, PM Shehbaz extended his best wishes, expressing hope for a peaceful and prosperous future for Bangladesh under Professor Yunus’s guidance.

“I extend my heartiest congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus,” PM Shehbaz stated. “I wish him immense success in leading Bangladesh towards peace and prosperity. I look forward to working together to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the coming days.”

Professor Yunus, renowned for his groundbreaking work in microfinance and economic development, was sworn in as “chief adviser” to the transitional government in a ceremony led by President Mohammed Shahabuddin at the presidential office in Dhaka. At 84, Yunus steps into this crucial role with a government primarily composed of technocrats, drawing significant attention and high expectations for bringing stability and progress to Bangladesh.
