16 Teams Confirmed for Canadian U-19 Baseball National Championship
The lineup for the inaugural Canadian U-19 Baseball National Championship has been finalized, with 16 teams set to compete for the Morneau Cup in Okotoks, Alberta.
The tournament will take place from July 14 to 19 at Seaman Stadium and will feature some of the top youth baseball talent from across the country.
Qualification Process Completed
The qualifying rounds, known as The Road to Okotoks, began with 29 teams competing nationwide. After regional competitions, teams secured their spots through strong performances across different provinces.
In total, seven teams qualified from Ontario, four from British Columbia, and four from the Prairie region.
The host team, Okotoks Dawgs Black, has also earned direct entry, completing the 16-team tournament field.
Prairie Region Selection
Due to weather disruptions in Alberta, the Prairie qualifier playoffs could not be fully completed. Despite this, teams were selected based on their progress and standings in earlier rounds.
The Vauxhall Academy Jets advanced after reaching the final following a semi-final win. Additional qualification spots were awarded to AHP Renegades, Team Saskatchewan, and Sylvan Lake Gulls Prep, all of whom ranked among the top-performing teams in the qualifier.
Looking Ahead to the Championship
The upcoming national championship is expected to highlight the depth of Canadian youth baseball and provide a competitive platform for emerging players.
Teams will now prepare for the tournament as they aim to capture the first-ever U-19 national title in Okotoks.
