Legendary world squash champion Jansher Khan has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his unwavering support during his recent knee surgeries.
The operations, which were successfully performed at Zimri Orthopaedic Hospital in Islamabad, have provided Khan with much-needed relief from the severe knee pain he had endured for over a year. In a phone interview from the hospital, Jansher Khan extended his thanks not only to the Prime Minister but also to the medical team for their dedication and expertise.
“I am deeply grateful to the doctors who worked tirelessly on my surgeries and to all my friends, family, and well-wishers who sent prayers and messages of support,” said Khan. He further shared that the knee pain had significantly impacted his daily life, making simple tasks like walking, praying, and even playing squash difficult. After enduring the pain for over a year, medical advice finally led him to opt for surgery to prevent further complications.
“I chose to undergo treatment in Pakistan because of the skilled and competent doctors here, and I’m extremely happy with the outcome. I feel healthier and more energized,” Khan added.
Reflecting on his decade-long career representing Pakistan on the global squash stage, Jansher Khan expressed pride in his achievements. However, he admitted that his relentless focus on his career led him to overlook his health, resulting in long-term issues with his knees and back. He encouraged young athletes to prioritize their health and address any minor injuries early to avoid major complications later in life.
Khan also expressed deep appreciation for the continuous support of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who have stood by him throughout his career and health struggles. “Their encouragement and guidance have been invaluable, especially during this difficult period. I am truly thankful to both of them from the bottom of my heart,” Khan concluded.
