Arshad Nadeem to Undergo Surgery in UK as Part of Recovery Plan
Pakistan’s celebrated javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem, is set to undergo surgery in the United Kingdom to address a recurring muscle injury. The procedure marks a critical step in his recovery journey, with medical experts optimistic about his return to top-level competition in the near future.
Dr. Ali Bajwa, a highly respected orthopaedic specialist based in Cambridge, is among the lead doctors overseeing Arshad’s treatment. He confirmed that the athlete will begin a focused rehabilitation program following the surgery.
“Please keep Arshad in your prayers,” Dr. Bajwa stated. “We are hopeful the treatment will be successful and allow him to return to international competition. The rehabilitation process will take time, but we are committed to ensuring a complete recovery.”
Arshad recently traveled to the UK for advanced evaluation and treatment after experiencing persistent discomfort in his calf muscle—an issue he had been managing since returning from international tournaments earlier this year. The injury had limited his ability to train at full intensity.
While no specific timeline for his return has been provided, doctors have emphasized a patient and careful approach to his recovery, prioritizing long-term health over immediate competition.
Arshad Nadeem made history by winning Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics at the Paris Games, achieving a remarkable throw of 92.97 meters. His triumph was widely celebrated and marked a turning point for athletics in Pakistan. He later added another gold medal to his name at the Asian Athletics Championships, solidifying his place among the nation’s greatest sporting icons.
Although his current absence is a setback for Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming World Athletics Championships, the focus remains on ensuring a full and sustained return to form.
Fans across the country and beyond continue to support Arshad through this phase, confident that he will once again represent Pakistan with strength, determination, and pride on the global stage.
