Punjab Launches Helpline to Report Schools Opening Before September 1

Punjab Extends Summer Vacation for All Schools Until September 1

The Punjab government has officially directed all public and private schools to observe the extended summer break until September 1, 2025, warning of strict action against violators.

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that the holiday extension applies to every institution across the province, with zero tolerance for those who attempt to reopen early.

Parents and community members are encouraged to report any school operating before the official date via the provincial education helpline: +92 316 0261408.

The minister explained that the decision was made to safeguard students from the ongoing heatwave, adding that it is final and non-negotiable.

However, the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association has strongly opposed the move, calling it unnecessary and damaging to students’ learning. They highlighted that schools in Islamabad and other provinces have already resumed classes and warned that keeping Punjab’s students out of classrooms for nearly three months could impact academic progress and board exam preparation.

The association has suggested phased reopening or allowing board classes to return earlier under strict health and safety measures to minimize learning losses.
