Ollie Palmer’s Stoppage-Time Heroics Send Wrexham Past Hull in English League Cup

Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer delivered a sensational performance, scoring two goals in just a minute of stoppage time and later converting a penalty to help his team secure a dramatic shootout win over Hull City in the English League Cup on Tuesday.

The Hollywood-backed Welsh club, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, appeared destined for an early exit after trailing 3-1 at the start of added time. However, Palmer, who came on as a 69th-minute substitute, scored headers in the first and second minutes of stoppage time to level the match at 3-3, forcing a penalty shootout.

Wrexham triumphed 5-3 in the shootout to advance to the next round, thrilling fans worldwide.

Following three consecutive promotions, Wrexham now competes in the Championship, the English second tier, for the first time since the 1980s. The club had opened their season with a 2-1 loss at Southampton on Saturday.

Palmer, who has been a central figure in the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary, continues to make headlines despite having fallen down the striker pecking order over the past two years.
