Three FC personnel martyred, 17 injured in Hangu terrorist attack

Terrorist Attack on FC Fort in Hangu Leaves Three Soldiers Martyred, 17 Injured

HANGU (August 25, 2025): At least three security personnel were martyred and 17 others injured after terrorists launched an attack on a Federal Constabulary (FC) fort in the Torawari area of Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Monday.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair, FC troops and police forces retaliated swiftly, forcing the militants to retreat. The injured soldiers were immediately shifted to Doaba Hospital for medical treatment.

Facilitator Killed in Encounter

Following the attack, security forces tracked down one of the facilitators involved. During an encounter, he opened fire on personnel and was subsequently killed, District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed. A large-scale search operation is also underway in the region to eliminate remaining threats.

Rising Security Concerns in KP and Balochistan

The incident comes at a time when Pakistan has been witnessing a surge in terrorist activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, provinces that share porous borders with Afghanistan.

A recent report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) highlighted that in June 2025 alone, the country recorded:

  • 78 terrorist attacks resulting in 100 deaths.

  • Among the fatalities: 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two peace committee members.

  • 189 injuries, including 126 security officials and 63 civilians.

  • Overall, 175 deaths during June, including security forces, civilians, and militants.

Ongoing Counter-Terror Operations

In response, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and security forces have intensified operations in KP and Balochistan. Earlier this month, 47 militants attempting infiltration from Afghanistan were neutralized during multiple operations in Balochistan’s Zhob district.

Officials stress that security operations will continue until peace and stability are fully restored in affected areas.

Key Takeaway: The attack on the Hangu FC fort highlights the ongoing security challenges in Pakistan. Despite setbacks, the country’s armed forces and police remain committed to combating terrorism and protecting civilians through sustained counter-terror operations.
