Pakistan and Bangladesh Sign Visa-Free Travel Agreement for Diplomats and Officials

Pakistan and Bangladesh Sign Key Agreements, Introduce Visa Waiver for Diplomats

ISLAMABAD / DHAKA: Pakistan and Bangladesh have strengthened ties by signing a series of bilateral agreements, including a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports, aimed at boosting cooperation across trade, culture, education, and diplomacy.

The accords were finalized during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Bangladesh. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, these agreements will institutionalize and expand collaboration between the two nations in multiple sectors, including media, academic exchanges, and diplomatic training.

This move follows Pakistan’s similar visa exemption agreement with the UAE in June, which became effective on July 27, 2025, highlighting Islamabad’s growing focus on facilitating diplomatic and official travel.

During his visit, Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, attended a reception hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, and held meetings with government advisers, political leaders, academics, journalists, artists, and sports figures.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep-rooted cultural ties, Islamic heritage, and literary traditions, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to a cooperative and forward-looking partnership with Dhaka.
