Faisalabad Welcomes 30 Electric Buses to Boost Sustainable Urban Transport

Faisalabad, September 22, 2025 – A fleet of 30 electric buses has arrived in Faisalabad and will soon begin operating on seven key city routes, officials announced on Monday.

The district administration revealed that three bus depots are being established at Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Sargodha Road, and Gutwala Road to support the new service. The project is expected to be inaugurated shortly by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Officials highlighted that the electric bus service aims to offer affordable and reliable transportation to city commuters while helping to ease traffic congestion. The move is also expected to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve air quality across Faisalabad.

This initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader Green Initiative, which has already launched electric transport projects in other major cities. Authorities noted that the service would particularly benefit students and senior citizens, thanks to low fares and improved accessibility.

With Faisalabad grappling with chronic congestion and pollution, local officials hope the electric bus project will provide a modern and eco-friendly alternative to existing public transport. The official launch is expected to take place later this week, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility in the city.
