Rainfall Predicted Across Pakistan Starting Tonight

Pakistan Weather Alert: Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms, and Windstorms Expected in Multiple Regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert, predicting rain-windstorms and thunderstorms across the upper and central parts of the country in the coming days.

What’s Driving the Weather System?

A well-marked low-pressure system (WML) is currently situated over the Gulf of Kutch, pushing moist currents into Sindh. At the same time, currents from the Bay of Bengal are expected to move into upper Punjab tonight, while a combination of moist flows from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea will strengthen between October 4th and 6th.

Adding to this, a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is approaching northern Pakistan tonight, likely to intensify by October 3rd and persist until October 7th.


Regional Forecast

Punjab/Islamabad

  • Isolated thunderstorms expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, and Khushab until October 3rd.

  • Widespread heavy rains and thunderstorms likely from October 4th to 6th in major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and DG Khan.

  • Hailstorms may also occur in some areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

  • Heavy rain and thunderstorms expected across Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and DI Khan.

  • The wet spell will continue from October 2nd to 7th with possible hailstorms.

Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan

  • Scattered rains likely in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, and nearby regions on October 2nd and 3rd.

  • Widespread thunderstorms with heavy falls forecast between October 4th and 7th.

Sindh

  • Rain and thunderstorms predicted in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umer Kot, and surrounding areas until October 3rd.

Balochistan

  • Thunderstorms and rain expected in Zhob, Loralai, Quetta, Ziarat, Sibbi, Naseerabad, and Dera Bugti between October 4th (night) and 6th.

  • Stay updated with PMD alerts during the forecast period.

  • Urban flooding and flash floods are possible in vulnerable areas.

  • Farmers are advised to plan agricultural activities accordingly.

  • Travelers should remain cautious on highways and hilly roads due to low visibility and slippery conditions.
