The 132nd Hurlingham Open delivered thrilling action as UAE Polo Team secured their place in the Triple Crown final in Argentina for the very first time. In the semifinal clash held at the Argentine Association of Polo Headquarters in Pilar, UAE outclassed La Irenita La Hache with a dominant second-half performance, booking their ticket to the final against La Natividad La Dolfina.

The semifinal started evenly, with Pablo MacDonough and Fran Elizalde giving La Irenita La Hache an early 2-0 lead. However, UAE’s star Polito Pieres quickly responded, keeping the game level at 4-4 by the third chukka. By halftime, UAE had edged ahead 7-5 thanks to Polito and Lukin Monteverde.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to UAE. Polito Pieres was unstoppable, scoring three unanswered goals in the sixth chukka to stretch the lead to 11-7. By the seventh chukka, UAE had surged ahead 13-7, leaving La Irenita La Hache with no way back. Despite late efforts from Fran Elizalde and Nachi du Plessis, UAE sealed a historic 13-9 victory.
This win marks UAE’s first-ever appearance in a Triple Crown final, a major milestone in the team’s history.
🏆 Drysdale Cup Semifinal: La Ensenada Edge Sol de Agosto
In the Drysdale Cup semifinal, defending champions La Ensenada battled past a spirited Sol de Agosto side. After trailing in the early chukkas, La Ensenada turned the game around thanks to substitute Gonzalo Ferrari.
The fifth chukka proved decisive, with La Ensenada scoring five goals to build a 14-9 lead. Although Sol de Agosto fought back in the final chukka, La Ensenada held firm to claim a 19-17 victory. Jerónimo del Carril’s penalty sealed the win, sending La Ensenada to the Drysdale Cup final against Los Machitos.
