UAE to Hold Indian Ocean Tsunami Emergency Drill on October 15

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will take part in a major international emergency preparedness exercise titled “IOWAVE25 – Indian Ocean Tsunami Simulation Exercise” on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Details of the Exercise
The large-scale drill will take place at Qidfa Beach in Fujairah, starting at 10:00 a.m., and will simulate a coordinated national response to a potential tsunami event.
The exercise will feature the mobilization of emergency teams, vehicle movements, and evacuation procedures, aiming to test real-time coordination between national, local, and international agencies.
Objective: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness
Officials said the goal of the IOWAVE25 exercise is to enhance disaster readiness, improve inter-agency coordination, and ensure the safety of residents and visitors in coastal areas.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the initiative represents a proactive safety measure to strengthen national resilience and public preparedness for natural disasters.
Authorities also urged the public to cooperate with on-ground teams and follow all official safety instructions during the simulation.
