Punjab Traffic Police Intensify Crackdown on Driving Without Valid Licence
Punjab traffic police have intensified enforcement against motorists who ride motorcycles or drive cars without a valid driving licence.
Officials said legal action is being taken against drivers who violate the licensing requirements. Under provincial traffic laws, motorists must have a valid licence before operating a motorcycle or car on public roads.
Driving Licence Process Simplified
The Punjab government has also taken steps to make the process of obtaining a driving licence easier for residents across the province.
For September 2026, the total cost of a one-year car driving licence is Rs1,980. The fee includes the following:

Strict Checks for Commercial Drivers
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazeer has directed traffic officials across the province to conduct strict checks of driving licences held by commercial vehicle drivers.
He said commercial vehicles will not be permitted to operate on Punjab’s roads without valid driving licences.
The directive covers drivers operating goods and passenger vehicles, with officials instructed to take action against those found driving without the required documents.
Thousands Obtain Commercial Driving Licences
According to traffic department officials, more than 60,000 people have been assisted in obtaining commercial driving licences across Punjab during the current month.
The department also reported that over 3,400 regular commercial driving licences have been issued during the same period.
DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazeer warned that enforcement against unlicensed commercial drivers will continue. Drivers of passenger and goods vehicles are being urged to obtain valid licences to avoid legal action and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
