Diplomatic efforts have accelerated as the deadline for the US–Iran ceasefire draws near, with international stakeholders pushing for continued dialogue to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

A US delegation is expected to arrive in Islamabad for talks aimed at maintaining the fragile truce, while Iranian officials are also reportedly considering participation in the next round of negotiations. However, no official confirmation has been issued by Tehran.

The ceasefire between the United States and Iran, announced earlier this month, is set to expire soon, raising uncertainty over whether it will be extended or replaced with a broader agreement.

Former US President Donald Trump stated that the truce extension beyond the deadline appears unlikely if a final deal is not reached, further increasing pressure on negotiators.

Iranian leadership has expressed concerns over inconsistent signals from Washington, saying that trust remains a major barrier to meaningful progress. Iranian officials have reiterated that any dialogue must be based on mutual respect and clear commitments.

Tensions have also increased in the Gulf region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route. Maritime disruptions and security concerns have added further complexity to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

At the same time, Pakistan has continued its diplomatic outreach, engaging both sides to support dialogue and stability. Senior Pakistani officials have been coordinating with international partners to facilitate negotiations.

Global leaders, including representatives from China, Russia, and European institutions, have urged restraint and emphasized the importance of uninterrupted maritime traffic and peaceful resolution of disputes.

Meanwhile, security has been significantly tightened in Islamabad ahead of the expected talks. Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed across sensitive areas to ensure the safety of visiting delegations and maintain order during the high-level diplomatic activity.

Despite ongoing uncertainty, international efforts continue to focus on preventing further escalation and keeping diplomatic channels open as the deadline approaches.
