Nine Killed in Armed Attack at Mining Site in Balochistan’s Chagai

At least nine workers were killed in an armed attack at a mining site in Chagai district of Balochistan, according to local authorities.

The incident took place at a copper and gold project operated by National Resources Limited (NRL), where unidentified assailants targeted employees on Wednesday evening.

Response and Casualties

A statement from the company said security forces, including the Frontier Corps, responded quickly, secured the area, and initiated a clearance operation.

While the company did not confirm casualties in its official statement, local administration and police officials reported that nine people lost their lives, including two security personnel.

All victims were shifted to Prince Fahad Hospital in Dalbandin.

NRL stated that it is coordinating closely with relevant authorities following the incident and emphasized that the safety of its employees remains a top priority.

The company also highlighted its ongoing efforts to support local communities, noting that a large portion of its workforce at the site belongs to the region.
